We're asking the community about resurfacing 2.8km of The Boulevard in Ivanhoe East.
The proposed ideas aim to improve access for residents and ensure the safe delivery of essential Council and emergency services. They also aim to reduce through-traffic, preserve the area's green and rural character, provide a safe and more reliable route for bike riders, and enhance the cycling route between Heidelberg and Ivanhoe East.
What are the ideas
- Resurfacing The Boulevard between Banksia Street, Heidelberg, and Burke Road North, Ivanhoe East, to improve the surface quality and make it safer.
- Adding consistent widths and gravel pass points to provide more comfortable travel for pedestrians, bike riders and vehicles.
- Creating a calmer environment by reducing through-traffic on The Boulevard south of McCubbin Street.
- Balancing resident access with traffic safety at Linn Street with new 'no through road' signage and access improvements.
- Making corners safer by implementing design measures such as speed cushions or slow points for safer speeds.
- Investigate opportunities to enhance connection to the Main Yarra Trail at Gruyere Crescent.
