Smoking and drinking alcohol in Banyule
Smoking and drinking alcohol are legal activities, and people have the right to choose whether they take part in them. At the same time, our parks, streets and public spaces are shared by many people with different needs and expectations.
We recently asked community, businesses, visitors and local organisations for feedback on Banyule's current alcohol-free areas, as well as a proposed smoke-free area along the Greensborough Walk.
This review will help us understand how these spaces are used, whether current arrangements are working well, and whether any changes should be considered.
Consultation has now closed. Thank you to everyone who shared their experiences and perspectives.
We will now review and analyse the feedback. The findings will help inform future decisions about alcohol-free and smoke-free areas and help Council ensure Banyule's public spaces remain welcoming, inclusive and enjoyable for everyone.
