West Mayling Reserve playground

West Mayling Reserve playground is a local playground in Watsonia. The triangular shaped park is bordered by nearby homes and has entry points at Service Road, Mayling Road and Westdale Court. It is close to the North East Link tunnel opening.

The park is a well-loved place for locals to meet, walk and spend time together.

The playground will be renewed in 2027, and we want to hear from the community now to better plan for and design the new space.

The playground is located in the centre of the park, surrounded by mature trees and a small mound. It currently includes a play structure, rocker, swings and a small see-saw.

Tell us how you use the playground and surrounding park, what you love about it and any ideas you have to make it a better play space for the local community.

Your feedback will help us create a draft playground concept, which we’ll share for more feedback in the second half of 2026.

Have your say

What can you influence?

  • Types of play equipment – helping us choose the right equipment for different ages and how people like to play, based on community feedback.
  • Location of the new playground – including the option to move it to a different location to improve afternoon shade and increase the buffer from North East Link.
  • Paths to the playground – where paths should go to make it easy and safe to get to the play space.
  • The playground will be renewed – the existing playground will be upgraded as part of this project.
  • The size and budget of the playground – the playground will be designed as a neighbourhood‑level park, which means its size and features are set by the available budget.
