About Ford Park

Ford Park is highly valued by the local community for its vast amounts of open space, pathways and landscaped areas. A cricket club uses the park as its base over summer but with two great ovals and no permanent winter tenant the park's facilities are underutilised. In 2016 we created the Ford Park Masterplan which showed that the facilities need to be updated particularly to support increased participation in sport by women. The Masterplan also showed the need and benefit of having a full time winter tenant.

About the AFL Study

In early 2018 we started a formal study to understand local trends and participation in AFL and cricket and to look at how best to use the two current ovals. The study identifies opportunities to explore establishing a regional level venue that caters for the local growing population and makes the most of the full breadth of football and cricket programs in the municipality.

The draft study has been developed in partnership with with Northern Football Netball League (NFNL), Yarra Junior Football League (YJFL), North Metro Cricket Association, AFL Victoria and Cricket Victoria and has involved;

  • Phase 1: Vision for the study
  • Phase 2: Priorities and Key directions
  • Phase 3: Public Exhibition of draft study (current)

The draft study is now ready for your review. We would love to hear what you think about the opportunities and ideas presented in the study.

Feedback

Thank you to those that gave feedback to the draft study. We are reviewing all the feedback before presenting a final version of the study which will include details on key redevelopment opportunities for the site.
