Our new Plan

We are thrilled to present our Multicultural Plan 2017-2021. We have developed this plan which sets the goals and strategies for enhancing outcomes for our CALD communities over the next four years. The Plan is guided by the Inclusion, Access and Equity Framework 2017-2021.

The Multicultural Plan 2017-2021 was adopted by Council on 4 June 2018.

Why create a Plan?

The new Plan identifies strategies to address the barriers faced by CALD communities and seeks to create more opportunities for participation and involvement. These strategies aim to bring all cultural communities within Banyule together and to foster respect and cohesion.

How we developed the Plan

The Plan has been developed through three phases of consultation with the community:

  1. Creating a vision for the Multicultural Plan
  2. Setting Priorities and Key directions
  3. Public Exhibition of draft plan

Council's Multicultural Advisory Committee, which comprises representatives from key community organisations and community members from a range of cultural backgrounds, worked with Council to guide the creation of the new plan.

Achievements

We have worked closely with many partners to successfully implement the Multicultural Plan 2014-2017 and enhance outcomes within our local community.
