Heidelberg Structure Plan Approved

10 December 2021

The Heidelberg Structure Plan project has achieved a significant milestone with the final draft approved by Council on 6 December 2021. The Plan is a result of extensive consultation and collaboration with the Heidelberg community and key stakeholders, including community groups, schools, hospitals, local businesses, and residents.

What’s next?

The Structure Plan is just the beginning for Heidelberg Activity Centre. The next step will be preparing a planning scheme amendment to embed the Structure Plan into the Banyule Planning Scheme. This will include developing a refined set of planning controls to implement the strategic objectives and preferred built form outcomes. There will be further engagement with the community for this stage, including a formal exhibition period. An Implementation Program, with prioritised actions will also be prepared, to realise the vision for the Centre.

The version of the Heidelberg Structure Plan approved by Council at its meeting on 6 December contained a graphical error on p.26. This has now been amended and the updated version is now available.
