The Banyule Heritage Study 2020 is now complete. The study included initial assessment of over 200 potential heritage places and detailed assessment of 22 priority places. Of the 22 places priority places assessed, 21 individual places have been recommended for inclusion on the Heritage Overlay in the Banyule Planning Scheme.

At its Ordinary Meeting on 20 September 2021, Council resolved to adopt the Heritage Study and seek interim and permanent heritage controls for the 21 recommended places.

In accordance with the resolution, Council submitted two requests to the Minister for Planning in October 2021:

  • A request for interim (temporary) heritage controls (Planning Scheme Amendment C164)
  • A request to prepare and exhibit proposed permanent heritage controls (Planning Scheme Amendment C165)

Further updates will be provided as the Amendments progress.
