We're pleased to let you know that construction work on Watsonia Town Square is continuing on schedule. Another noticeable stage will be completed next week when the Library side of Watsonia Road is resurfaced and open to traffic.

Traffic conditions along Watsonia Road will change from Thursday, 15 February.

Traffic will shift from the shop side of Watsonia Road to the Library side for approximately 6 weeks, until the end of March.

Watsonia Road will remain one-way towards Grimshaw Street.

• We're keeping the road one-way towards Grimshaw Street so shoppers can still use the angle car parking in front of Watsonia Road shops.
• Construction will temporarily take up five parking spaces (between TT Charcoal Chicken and Burger Road) to make space to keep the road open while we work.

Access to Morwell Avenue and Grace Street from Watsonia Road will change from 15 February.

• Access to both will be from High Street into Grace Street. A new connecting link is being built between Grace St and Morwell Ave.
• On the RSL side, traffic will be able to continue past the RSL, turn right into what is currently a car park entrance, and return towards High Street along the other side of Morwell Avenue.

Path to progress!

In another sign of progress, we’ve completed the first section of the shared user path on Morwell Avenue.

The path ties in with the raised pedestrian crossing at High Street and it will ultimately connect safely through to the library and train station precinct.

Parking is available and pedestrian access to shops and services is being maintained throughout the construction period. There's a temporary carpark available adjacent to the transmission tower at the top of Morwell Avenue (entry from Morwell Avenue). There is also angled parking opposite the RSL side of Morwell Avenue between Watsonia Rd and High St.

Extreme weather can impact on construction plans, but we will keep you informed of any changes.
