About the space

Central Park is a large reserve in Greensborough that currently has two playgrounds. The older of the two playgrounds is located adjacent to Victoria Street. The reserves natural setting provides the ideal backdrop for nature play experiences.

Improving your playground

Past flood events have deposited mulch from this playspace into stormwater pits and prevented floodwater from getting away which has caused problematic flooding within the park and for surrounding properties.

To overcome this issue we are proposing to remove the Victoria Street playground and develop a nature play circuit back within the reserve amongst existing vegetation. The circuit will consist of five activity sites. These sites will encourage children to be creative and use loose natural materials. There will be a cubby frame, a balancing log, boulder story circle and a small circular play deck. The reserves natural setting provides the ideal backdrop for nature play experiences.

Project update

Prior to consultation, the plan was to remove the existing playground and develop a nature play circuit back within the reserve amongst existing vegetation. After the community consultation period, we realised that the community wanted to keep the play equipment.

Therefore the final plan includes nature play: rocks, log balance, log steppers and a cubby t-pee plus a double mound slide, a triple swing and a hip hop rotating equipment. (see Document Library for final plan).

Works will commence in late May and conclude in June.
