In 2020 we consulted with you to help shape the Were Street Project Concept Plan.

Thank you to nearly 300 people who provided their feedback on the Were Street Vision and key objectives. It is clear how important Were Street is to the local community and your voice is important.

The ideas that were highly supported by the community were:

• to retain the village character
• to improve the public spaces and pedestrian safety
• to improve accessibility and retaining a two-way traffic flow.

The ideas that were highly supported have been included in the concept plan, those with least support have not been pursued.

We are committed to ensuring Council facilities, activities and services are accessible, inclusive and equitable.

With Council approval of the Were Street Project concept plans, the project can now begin detailed design. Council will continue to advocate with the Victorian Government regarding construction timeframes for the Montmorency Station.
